While that's true, IMD from a K3 is VERY sensitive to output power and DC supply voltage. At 100W, it ain't grand, but it's a lot better in the range of 25-50W typically used to drive an amp. IMD also decreases with higher DC supply voltage. As I understand it, the radio is designed to run from a 13.8V supply, and 15V is the max rated supply voltage.
