I'm not sure about the consensus, but let me say, just by being a mono
hander you'll sidestep the problem I had with my diy amp at 10m. The band
switch. I thought it was big enough... It got to 80C after 2s key down. But
my problem also was too much stray capacitance resulting on having to use
very little inductance making the Q less than ideal.

It's a picture of the main (adjustable) coil in my old military amp that I
run up to 1.5kW. Others successfully run the same tank up to 3kW (some
people claim even more, but I have doubts).

This wire/tube is about 6mm or a quarter inch  thick. It runs fine....
Before I saw this I used half inch in my diy amp.
