There is a related problem in the terrain analyser programs which
calculate the vertical radiation pattern based on terrain height
profiles. At higher frequencies (especially 28 and 50MHz) there must be
significant absorption and/or scattering by above-ground structures such
as buildings and trees that are often larger than a wavelength in size.
