The idea that a 24 hour operating event inside of the normal 48 hour
contest opens up a whole host of questions. I do not think that the
people winning the awards in the new "24 hour" event will change from the
top stations that are winning awards in the present layout.
As for increasing the number of stations who compete....well maybe, but
how many guys work less than 48 hours now and are happy with the results?
Listen to 3.830 MHz after a contest and you will find a large number of
stations reporting scores, all who operated less than 48 hours and are
happy to have hit a personal goal.
Can you imagine a 100 mile event inside the Indy 500?
How about a shorter Tour de' France so more guys can win?
