That's because the only ones who get heard on 3830 are the Big Guns.
On Internet, I can shout as loud as everyone else. Ain't it great?
Though, I do have two computers and two modems, so I can post on one
reflector while scanning another for things to shout about. Of course,
I always play by the rules and never consume bandwidth by posting
on two reflectors simultaneously. But with the high rate on CQ-CONTEST
lately, there's just no benefit in using two modems.

I would be really interested in the data that supports that. While I
would agree that from the US side, it probably doesn't matter that much,
having operated this contest from the European side, I can tell you it
made a BIG difference. Having someone telling you where the new mults
are gives you the ability to run more (less time searching) and increases
your mult count. The DLs who do this, have scores about 40 percent higher
than those who don't use/have packet.
Unless, I am not in the "true competitor" class.
