I don't mean to throw stones at what appears to be a well intentioned idea,
but using a non-standard prefix such as GB6 for Wales will have one and
only one significant effect:
Many logs will be sent in with the scores calculated incorrectly.
Yes, it is possible that the people who make up callsign/country lists for
the logging programs can figure out how to put an exception to GB being
England for GB6AR. Yes it's even possible some people will even be able to
have these updated lists in their computers in time for the contest. Yes
KR1R could check all the logs and rescore the ones that didn't do it right.
Yes, he doesn't have anything better to do.
Also, any gain in QSOs obtained by using this call should be offset by a
loss from people who think GB6 is just England. This could be overcome by
saying "Golf Bravo Six Alpha Radio, located in Wales" all the time. Don't
say "Golf Bravo Six Alpha Radio, Wales," because people will log it as
GB6ARW. Then the great mass of users of logging programs can simply try to
figure out how to change the country that their program automatically comes
up with to Wales.
Although this will have no impact on me either as a contest participant, or
log checker, I have checked and am checking enough logs to appreciate the
problems it will make for KR1R.
Hint: Wales is rare enough to make people want to work it. GW is a great
prefix for Wales, in that everybody knows it is from that great, rare place.
Also, please go back to Wales again some time and work a contest in which I
can benefit from someone actually being on the air from there.

Frankford Radio Club: Major effort: K3ANS, WF3H, N2BIM, K3YD.

Problems: Getting CT network going with not enough com ports
in all computers, at 5 stations.
Ten Tec Omni VI trashing other station receivers. Intermittant
open in 40 meter yagi.
Pleasures: Great operators and team effort. Plenty of equipment, including
loans and help in set up by N3IYX, AA3JU.
Help by team in last minute antenna repairs nursing broken Tailtwister
rotator which broke saturday, for 10 and 15 meter monoband yagis.
Great conditions for bottom of sunspot cycle. Fine hostessing by
Faith Goodman "Mrs. K3ANS".
Help in antenna work and settup by team in advance of contest.
Having rare DX call us in CQs. Getting through pile ups
against major contenders. Jokes by N2RM team via packet.
Makes us veryproud to be part of FRC..............
