A great time was had by all. We had good propagation, but high noise
Friday night. Saturday was probably a little better. We operated
continuously, but those hours with 4 or 5 QSO's in the middle of the
day were real boring.

I called Stouffer's a couple of weeks ago to inquire about getting an extra
"roll-away" bed in my double room again this year. The reservations manager
told me that they can no longer put an extra bed in a regular (two queensize
beds) room due to "fire department regulations". She said that the Dayton
fire department was really cracking down on them and other hotels.
They did say an extra bed is OK in a room that has one king-size bed.

We echo the sentiments of most of the other east coast stations: a fun
weekend with great conditions for this time in the sunspot cycle.
We had intended to operate M/2 but when one of our key operators (WZ1R)
came down sick at the last minute we opted to "just have some fun"
and go M/M.
The main operators were: NX1H, K1XM, K1RX, K1DG, K1BG and K1TR.
Operators who dropped by to operate for somewhat shorter periods: KC1XX,
WB1HBB, NM1W and K1MNS (our gracious host).
Operating positions were:
160m/20m: IC-781, HB amp (8877) on 20, Dentron on 160m.
80m/15m: IC-781, 3-1000 amp on 80 and an Alpha 77DX on 15m.
40m/10m: IC-765, Henry 3K on 40 and a HB amp (8877) on 10m.
Antennas:
160m: gamma matched 155' tower with elevated radials. Beverage to Eu.
80m: 4-square with elevated radials.
40m: 2/2 at 155/80'.
20m: 5 el at 80'
15m: 4/4/4/4 at 110/85/57/30'
10m: 7 el at 100'

Perhaps there's another reason for all the "?"s. At any given time, zillions
of operators are tuning around looking for a clear spot to call CQ. So,
when a DX station is copying a weak stateside station, everyone in his
skip zone hears a clear spot, and drops in a ? to find out if it's busy.
A couple dits lets him know it is. Would you rather they just start
calling CQ?
