Chronicaly wrong band changes (30 changes vs 12 in 1994), no JA runs on 15
and no USA on 10, missed ZS6QU on all bands, (as in 1994), VK/ZL on 80 and
40, etc...
MFJ DSP filter worked fine indeed...

Station:

TS940S/AT
DSP-9
R7 @ 25ft
20/40 resonant coax dipoles @ 20ft
80 ZEPP @ 30ft
LK500 @ 1KW (makes up a little for lack of directional antenna)

Soapbox:

I had thought everything was all set the week before. Worked out some kinks
with the new computer (RF issues that a few more cores helped with...).

The R7 had been acting up a little and gave out several hours into the
contest while running on 20m - Must be the 20M trap... I could not load
15CW and the R7 was used on 20/15/10 early on, so I was glad to have the
80/40/20 dipoles handy! I was planning on CW only, but due to the R7
giving out, decided to go mixed.

20m conditions very interesting as well as a late 15m opening (2100-2300Z)
where I was able todo a little running... My best hour was 64 @ 1600 on 20m
until being pushed off the freq by S50HQ.

Highlights:
a very loud KB4 station running EU on 20m SSB when VK5GN came on the freq
and tried calling him to no avail. I piped in: "vk5gn, please go down 2?"
to which he replied: "sure - you got me!" - was I pumped - it was great fun
working my only confirmed VK during the contest - thanks Martin! (and there
is SOME advantage to having wire/vertical antennas!)

Also, very nice to be called by V73C and have a quick chat - thanks ken :-)

OE6MBG almost worked me (got the N2MZ part ok, but had too much QRM and then
moved freq and I could not get back in!) When I got back to him a little
later, he thanked me for coming on back (as if he remembered...). What a
great op!

I slipped down early Sunday AM and grabbed a couple of JA contacts (my only
two of the contest...) - great fun.

We had people coming over in the AM, so this was about a 16 hour effort.

CU all next year!
