As long as we're talkin' real world, how 'bout including things like
the use of substitute guy anchors such as trees and tree stumps, and
screw anchors that can only be screwed in halfway! ;-)

A little common sense goes a long way!

I hope NCJ plans to run the SS records by section and not just by call
area. I guess that's another thing in the trend toward wider-regional
listings.

And, my ARRL CW 10M single band score was missing from the results. My
score would have been #1 US had it been listed. Oh well, CQ had it for
theirs! I know anyway. 73

On K8MR's call area sprint teams, on the VE part, why not expand the
number allowed on a team to 12 (bonus, if the other 10 are one from each
U.S. call area) with the 11th and 12th being from anywhere in VE? Or
something like that, so as not to replace a U.S. call area with a VE.
Just a thought, not pushing for it necessarily.

I would think NCJ would be pleased to run an extensive article on the
VP2MFM operation.

According to my NA CW speed indication, typical sprint speeds are between
28 and 36 WPM. Certainly some are faster, as some are slower. But it's
surprisingly easy to copy fast CW when you know what's coming...that is,
call, QSO number, name, state.

Another sprint idea for the slower: Stay high in the CW band.
Tip two, only call CQ...at your own speed, and make 'em repeat the
exchange if they sent it too fast to copy.

I don't think they broke down the top assisted scores, did they? If not,
that would have been interesting too.

Does anyone have any first hand experience using both the
EWE antenna and the beaverage? I would like to hear from
some contesters who can compare the two antennas. In your
opinion, is one better than the other and why.

Thanks

It's interesting to talk to Jeff (zero) after a DX contest (when he used to
operate them) and compare notes about 40m. I always here comments about the
good JA opening at 0730z. I'm always there, and am never able to work JA at
this time. If we do get an opening from here to JA on 40m, it's after
sunrise and I'm long gone to the high bands. Until sunrise you can work a
few of the big boys with the antenna pointed west (skew path).

Now to really depress you boys out west... Talked to KM3T on the phone
today (doing antenna work at the "new KC1XX")... I asked Dave if Matt had
tried out the 2 element 40 he put up at 200 feet. He said yes, chuckled,
and said Matt had worked a G3 at 1:00pm the other day on 40m cw.
