A friend of mine (AB5NG) requested that I ask the contest crowd
whether or not a Tailtwister will fit OK in a Rohn 25G tower without
any strange modifications to the rotor plate. If not, how about
in a 45G?

Hi all
After last years CQWW CW disaster when a spectacular aurora destroyed the
bands it was a real treat to have such excellent conditions this year -
especially at the bottom of a cycle and at this northern latitiude. We had
over 12 solid hours to Europe over Saturday night/Sunday morning -amazing.
20 Meter Single Band
Score
2310 QSOs 5930 pts 39 zones and 137 countries Score 1,043,680
Equipment: Kenwood TS940 + Henry Amp
Antennas: 5 ele monobander at 140 ft, TH6 at 82 ft , TH6 at 75 ft and 4-30
mHz log at 90 ft.
Don's multi-multi station is gradually nearing the competitive stage and the
20 M station is performing very well. All the antennas on separate towers and
linked with a Stack Match which allowed us to transmit in 2 or 3 different
directions and gave a tremendous amount of flexibility. Everything worked
well except a rotor froze up in the sub zero temperatures.
Lots of exciting moments but best was when VK9XH called us near the end of
the contest for a new country mult and zone 29. We had given up hope of
finding zone 29. Never heard zone 37. We set a number of goals for the
weekend and we had them all beat by Sunday morning. We bettered the former
Canadian 20M record by 200,000 points. All in all a fun weekend.

First, thank you everybody who had enough patience to work us.
The total point was doubled from the last year's result. This
is probably due to booming activities on the band in U.S. The
condition seemed average (or not so good) on the first day and
much worse on the second day.
We installed a 1200ft beverage at the beginning of the year,
heard east coast in ARRL International CW for the first time,
but failed to work. This time we desperately wanted to work
east coast and installed another 1200ft beverage beaming east
coast. Unfortunately we never heard signal from east coat
during the contest. The east end was GA or IL. The new
beverage was too quiet. It might be too low (close to the
ground). What is the optimum height of beverage?
We will improve our transmission antenna next year and look
for east coast again in CQ 160m and ARRL International CW.

thanks for the kind words but I think the reason you need me around
is to have an easy butt to kick ;>)
I just limited the debate 'cause I didn't want the reflector
to be loaded down with all that. I already have pretty grave concerns abt
power line effects on humans so it would be a No-No to live right next to
one. I was more interested in how close could I get (and it doesn't sound good).
I'll be sending out a summary soon - sounds like a lotta guys are interested
in one.

ARRL will have a master we can use, another says you can
use the one downloaded off the fax machine, another says
you can use the one off the FCC's web site ... etc.
Does anyone have the hard, cold, take-to-the-Mellon-Bank-

NO WAY !! No matter what someone in the employ of a utility sez, AVOID
building a contest

AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE !!! Unless you live in the desert, high humidity
conditions raise havoc
with most HV lines. Ice? Wet snow? FORGET IT !!
Even lines that are noise free when first installed will PROBABLY go noisy in
time. Utilities
just don't have the funds to maintain them at peak noise-free conditions. What
may be
"noise-free" to them could be QUITE noisy when you're pointing many elements of
HF/VHF yagi
toward them. I've heard older lines for MILES when using larger arrays - not
the hot setup when
trying to sort through those 3rd level EU's on 20 or 15.

Here is the dialogue regarding my inquiry into the 610V confusion:
