NOT.
11 Q's, 5 sections, about 30 minutes of operating
TS930s w/tuner, 40m dipole (new neighbors haven't complained yet;
the tower's coming! The phoenix will rise!)
loudest: K6LL owes me for a new ear
highlight: someone actually heard me
highlight: going to dinner at Clemson U's new conference center
with mom, dad, brother, wife and children to celebrate older son's
12th birthday (darn they grow up so fast!)
lowlight: TS930 tuning acting flakey at times (HELP: who's the
930 guru out here, AA4??)
1996 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION: I WILL CONTEST!!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all you out there
who have taught me so much this year. Thanks for sharing your
secrets.
God bless us all.... :-)

>>I made at least 20 looks in the slow and novice segments >>this

single signal there, at all! Several times I had >>>the TS430
sweep-tuning the recommended segment.

I have to agree, there were very few /N and /T stations out there in
the phone segment. I operated phone only. I got all the addresses
from the QRZ callsign server for the QSOs I made and there was only
one Tech+ in the whole list. And he was from Puerto Rico! I had a
great time despite the bad conditions. This was my first attempt at
operating single op. I picked up 6 new countries and 17 new states.
Look for my cards soon!
To make a comment about the additional categories in the contests, I
like the awards for the /N and /T stations as it does give some more
parity to the contest. I just wish there were more out there to
compete with. From looking at last years scores I think I have a
good shot at winning my division (Delta) as there was only one other
/T station that entered in the phone only/low power category. That's
not competition! Maybe there will be more entrants this year. I just
know that I gave it a good effort despite the low score. I listened
to hiss for a LLOONNGG time.
