Comments:
Despite the poor propagations we had great fun, the only station we
heard but could not work was 5N0T. Outside of Europe we only had
good propagation to South Africa and some other African counties.
Sathurday the propagations were quit good in Europe during several
hours. Except one LU no we didn't hear any South America. We saw
some spots on the PacketCluster of US stations spotted by a Spanish
station but we haven't heard anything from that area. Hopefully the
propagation will get better soon, back to old times !

It's s9+20 in Yuma, AZ at about 080 degrees. That would put
it somewhere around Atlanta, GA. Any readings from near there?
It's so loud that it's better to put it in a null and add 90 deg
to the reading.

It is somewhere between 90 and 120 degrees from here in Wichita, Kansas.
Or at least it seems so as near as I can determine, but it peaks at
about 30db over s9 here.

Barry: I bought the Super CMOSII keyer about a year before the III came out
and didnt get around to putting it together until about 2 months before the
new one came out. I decided not to get the III because it didnt offer too
many more features over the II. But as you say they are fantastic keyers and
would buy the III instead of a commercially built one if I wanted another keyer.

2200Z Saturday - Visited with the FCC man on watch near Washington (DC,
not Ferndale, WA) ... he hears it (loud, too). Wasn't "on duty", but
will leave note for the "next watch". Asked him to take bearing, but
again said he REALLY wasn't on duty. Told him I would accept collect
call with any info they turned up.

beat-notes as he tuned through it ... that's not the case here ... only one
carrier. Several beat-notes would indicate some sort of multiplex signal
to me.
If you want numbers to file away, it's 202-418-1192. I usually deal with
Grand Is, NE station, but they're closed on week-ends. Their number is

WOW! I'm IMPRESSED! It's 2250Z Saturday ... the FCC tech just called me
back and reported that he'd "been working on the problem".
Says the signal is from the Jacksonville, FL area and suspects "it's Navy"
... said they often get similar "problems" from the various branches of the
military. He'll follow up. In this case, it's unfortunate that the
government buys such good rigs ... otherwise it would have crashed and
burned by now.

Said he realized that his receiver (a Racal) has several "mixes" on the
even-MHZ frequencies and that there really was just one carrier.
I've never failed to get first-class cooperation from a monitoring
station ... don't expect they can resist a puzzle ... I know I couldn't.
