Shreveport/Bossier City (LA) amateurs are in a state of shock today
after learning that Honor Roll Dxer and contestor Floyd Teetson,
W5MUG, and his wife Winnie, WN5YTR, were found brutally murdered last
night. They lived near the small town of Heflin, LA, which is
about 20 miles east of Shreveport. They had apparently been beaten
to death with 2x4s, and then dumped into a small shed outside their
house, where their throats were then slashed. As of this writing,
few other details are known. Floyd and Winnie will be missed by all who
knew them. Floyd had been a member of several multi-op contest teams
operating from various Caribbean DX sites . They were planning to be
active as ZF2FT from Little Cayman in the upcoming ARRL DX SSB contest
with three other Shreveport-area operators. The DXpedition (with W5AU,
N5OCD, and N5XIQ) will go forward and, if permitted, they will use Floyd's
call, ZF2FT, in memorium. God Bless them both.
