Do any of the reflector users know of a specific after-market company that
makes/sells High performance Xtal or mechanical Bandpass filters for the
Yaesu FT1000mp.

Actually, the other day, when reading the messages your referred to, I
also had a feeling that the playing ground is not equal for all.

I would prefer to abolish the several categories and let every one
compete in one and the same group. In order to account for the various
differences in power used, or square feet of antenna farm, etc.,
perhaps a handicap rating can be establised. Like in golf.

I am sure it would be more fun if all of us compete for the same
title. And if would be a thrill if an operator with 100 watts and just
ONE DIPOLE would be the overall winner.

On the other hand, what would the equipment advertiser do in such a
situation?

I suspect so. In this day of ubiquitous Internet connectivity, peecee's
are much more likely to have IP networking support built in, or available
cheaply (e.g. Windows for Workgroups, Win95, OS/2). There are very few excuses
left for *not* having true networking support in the contest logging
packages.

I've finished wiring the Ethernet (thinnet) at VE7ZZZ. The next step
is to get the server set up. Once that's done I start on the diskless
workstations for the operating positions. The plan is to run a diskless
configuration of OS/2 with the modified SIO driver that supports serial-
port redirection to a telnet session. This will let us fake out the
CT serial network until such time as CT (or something else) gets native
IP network support.

Trey, First, I only sent two messages on two different days noting the
possibility of ELs using the ham bands to call for help. If two postings,
on what could have been a life-saving topic that should be (and by
regulation, practice, and likely law--is) of vital concern to all hams
who could provide assistance,
among all the other things that appear here are too much, I recommend you
re-examine your value system and the deepest reasons ham radio exists.
For a tiny drop of good will for humanity, I wish you warmest 73, K4VUD

Trey, it is your game, but don't you think it takes more time/space to
tell someone not to do something harmless (like the below) than to just
let it go? Watchdogs get few positive votes. 73, K4VUD
