A couple of weeks ago I asked for information on repairing Heil headphones.
Thanks for the many replies! I have a pair Heil Pro-Set headphones and one
ear piece had broken away from the band that goes over the head - a small
plastic piece broke while it was packed too tight in my luggage.

I called Heil on the phone, a very nice woman offered to send the
replacement part for free (wouldn't even accept my offer to pay for the
postage), it arrived today just a couple of days after my second phone call
(oops, they lost the first request), and it took me about 20 minutes to
replace the broken piece.

Repair requires a small philips scredriver, keeping track of small screws,
unsoldering the wires from the speaker, and remembering where the wires go
when you put it back together. Not too bad.

Heil does not have an e-mail address yet, though one of the managers is
supposed to have a home account. Maybe someday soon...

These message excerpts tell the story. Everyone had positive words to say
about Heil and their customer service.

KF3P: They have a new holder with a brass insert which should be a little
tougher. They are available free of charge as parts.

WN9JAT: I have needed modest repair parts for Heil Mikes and headsets.
I have always had superb service. I have learned to ask for Donna
who is a charming lady and knows the product inside out. Chances
are very good they will send you the needed part within a day or so.
I have never had to see a headset "in for repair. A don't think that Heil
has E-mail at least not on their literature. Maybe Bob Heil just hollers
louder. Their telephone number is 618-295-3000, FAX 618-295-3030. So good
luck, should be a breeze.

N8AAT: I sent my Heil headphones back for repair. Heil was quick and
efficient. In my case, the turn-around time was about one week. Not too bad
when compared to other repair experiences.

N2BIM: I also broke the earpiece off my Heil Proset. I called Heil, and the
sent me out a new, re-designed piece to do the repair. No charge. No
questions asked. Did the repair myself in about 15 minutes. Very easy.

WB5B: Here's some contact info for Heil, in case you don't have it:

HEIL SOUND LTD, Box 78, 2 Heil Drive, Marissa IL 62257

Also thanks to these folks for input!
