Hi everyone,

I just got home from the local club meeting of the Maryland Mobileers
(they had those county hunter maps at Dayton in the Flea market).
Tonites program was about preparation for Field Day. I'm setting up a
station where it will be the first time they have seen CT in action.

The Field Day leader tonite was passing out the Dupe sheets (Those Giant
ARRL Forms) and he looked absolutly shocked when I said I we don't need
them at our station. When I was asked to describe my station and that we
would be computerized with complete rig control, bandmapping, Dupping,
and the other bells and whistles the locals were impressed.

My point is... If you haven't set up with your local group for FD then
DO IT. Take all the tools. Take a full station. Run CT (or NA). Mark
all the keys. Parallel extra CW jacks. Take a Mike for the voice types.
Introduce these guys to contest style operating.

If you get just one convert per FD group we'll have a bunch of new guys
to work in the IARU and SS.

FD is our chance to really introduce contesting to the masses. It's also
our chance to raise the image of "Contesters" amongst the locals.

I'll be at WA3PJQ on 15 & 40, phone & CW. That's like having 4 bands!
I hope everyone on the reflector will give us a call. This is not to
solicit contacts but rather in spite of our long callsign I'm hopping to
make some occasional "Snappy" QSO's so they can see how quickly
contesters can make a QSO.

3 weeks and counting.

P.S. Just got the building permit for the new shack out-back. Next Year
I'll try for a TOWER!! Let the construction begin!
