Correction to News Release on DX Contest Rules
In a News Release dated December 23, 1997, it was announced that: *The ARRL
Contest Advisory Committee and the ARRL Awards Committee have voted in favor
of a change in rules for multioperator single- and *two-transmitter*
categories regarding permitted band changes. The current rules require a
station to remain on a band for at least 10 minutes once operation has begun
on that band. The new rule, which will not take effect until the 1998
contest, allows for 6 band changes per hour. This does not allow more
changes in an hour than the present rule, but it does allow a station to
quit an unproductive band after a single contact.*
That release contained a clerical error, and should not have included the
multioperator two-transmitter category in the rules change. The new rule
will apply only to multioperator single-transmitter entries only.
As a further clarification, the allowed 6 band changes are for a clock hour,
and not just per arbitrary 60-minute period.
The rules change does not go into effect until 1998.
