Hi all!
I was pretty tired last night, and hence not too serious (qrt'd about =
0200). I kept catching myself ordering the exchange wrong. I think =
perhaps I was more preoccupied with trying to figure out why no one =
could hear me - grin grin. Conditions and activity both seemed poor last =
night which I suppose could present a justification for slopping up the =
exchange. After all, when the likelihood is low that someone is lined up =
to call the owner of the frequency - properly identifying yourself as =
said owner thru proper ordering of the exchange looses some of its =
importance. But by the same token, one could argue that sloppy operating =
encourages more sloppy operating and vice versa - kinda like speaking =
Ebonics versus standard English.=20

There is nothing in the rules which dictates the order of the Sprint =
exchange. What you describe has evolved as the most efficient operating =
practice (i.e., it keeps people from calling you at the wrong time). =
Until it is in the rules, you can't complain about how people send their =
exchange!

Its fine to include the .bin but I need the ascii file as there is no way I
can have
copies of every contest program ( I have CT 4, 6, and 8 and NA 7,9).
Please also send a 3.5" diskette if possible (I am amazed at the number of
360KB diskettes sent).

How about a little discussion of the ARRL's proposed
license restructuring and how it would affect contesting?
If I understand the proposal correctly, the new
Intermediate Class ops would have mainstream cw bands on
80, 40, 15, and 10. It will be real fun mixing a 30 wpm cw
contest with 5 wpm operators!
The Intermediates would also have a little slice of the phone
bands on 160, 75, 15, and 10m. The present 10 meter tech+ phone
band has already swung a major advantage in domestic contests
toward the West Coast. I can see it happening again on 15m, which
is open even more frequently than 10.
I'm sure the distinguished participants of this reflector can
think of a zillion different _contest-related_ issues springing
from this proposal. Here is the proposal as I understand it.

On 20m phone band, above 14.150 is always full of US statations during
North Americans' opening from JA. It is quite hard to work Zone 7,8,9
above 14.150 from the far east. It could be the similar in the cycle 23
peak on 15 meter band.( Sorry last sun spot It seems to me that current band
plan on 15 and
20 is good for the JA station. I object expansion of 15m phone.
This argument may not fair for the US. You have a hard time to work
south-east asian station through JA's pile up.
