Tks to all for your comments concerning the Dunestar vs. I.C.E.
multiband filter application. Both systems were reported to work for
their users. The apparent difference was mostly that I.C.E. has a
built-in switch capability to permit manual or automatic band changing.

The one important point several made was to not use these filters with a
high vswr situation. Do not use them with your transceiver's auto tuning
unit engaged. Better to tune the antenna downstream of the filter.

For those interested, below are some of the comments received.

"They both work well. However, the ICE's are more versatile and less
expensive. The Dunestar requires an external switch or
band decoder to work. The ICE unit goes that way, but also has a manual
switch you can use if you dont have the interface available, such as for
a
dxpedition/ field day, etc."

"We burnt up a few due to operator error last year. The best thing about
ICE is
their customer service. They overnighted the parts for repairs
last year free of charge and saved our butts."

"I have two Dunestar 600's and have used them in m/s and m/m operations
at
AG6D and N6RO with good results. Have also used two sets of 600's at
VK9LZ
m/s CQWW RTTY test in '95 -- worked fine."

"We bought a full set of ICE filters for our M/M station. With six QRO
stations all in a small 4-bed house and all antennas within 1.5 acres,
we
had big QRM problems in 94. Installed between the rig and PA (and well
grounded), they certainly did the trick."

"I love the ICE multiband filter I have...the only thing that could
improve it
were if it handles my linear! With two of these we have run
multi-singles sans
any problems unless on exact harmonics...they work great."

"Bottom line is that the ICE filters WORK. I also have a pair of the
DuneStar 3-stack remote switching boxes. Both companies provide good
after-the-sale support. I would endorse either."

"We use the Dunestar multiband filters at NK7U and they work fine."

"I have both Dunestar and ICE bandpass filters. I can tell NO difference
in
quality, workmanship or performance."
