That's not going to happen. At 1 point per QSO, if there is any opening to
EU, JA, etc., the guys are going to try and ignore Stateside unless there
is nothing else to work. This just helps fill in the slack time and
perhaps will encourage low band activity with the short skip. This might
tip the scales in favor of using a 2x1 call however...

We've been using this rule for the RTTY WPX for a while and it really helps
overall activity levels and reduces slack time.

    Steve,
Gee, if you get one point for every QSO within your country, why bother
to work anybody outside of you country if you can keep up a good rate and
you can't even HEAR the DX because the domestic stuff is louder? Would this
mean the JA's and US just work each other until the cows come home?
I thought the point was to make domestic QSO's count for zero points
to keep WPX a DX contest and not melt down to merely a US and JA Domestic
contest.
If the JA's work each other, the West Coast is more are impacted then
the East Coast because the Europeans do not have big domestic numbers. So
who ones, naturally, the EAST Coast- as if they don't need more of an
advantage.
For those who need more of an advantage to win a contest , let them
create their own contest tailored to their own need to win something in
life.
With the FCC allowing people to create their own unique prefix, which
was not so until just recently, it awfully hard to feel sorry for somebody
today who if they want to , can have a big score in WPX. Some people should
remember that not everybody can win, but a everybody can have fun!
Keep it at 36 hours and zero points for domestic.
                                                            Aloha, Al
