AT W7RM M/M in the CQ WW CW last year we had set ups for 2 radios on a
couple of bands, using the same antenna. The second radio feed came from
the 2nd receiver ant connection on the first radio and into the receive
only antenna on the 2nd radio. When it was time to transmit on the 2 nd
radio a footswitch took switched the antenna to the 2nd radio regular
antenna connection and connected the 1st radio. The 1st radio op had to
log the Q.
It took some practice to be able to tune only when the 1st radio was not
transmitting. One problem was dupe checking but some of the time the run
op could just note calls on a notepad and dupe check.
In the SSB WW(I think) there was a second computer at these positions for
dupe checking. Not sure how well this worked as I wasn't at that
operation. And I think both computers could log the Qs and merged later.
The same setup could be used by 1 op I suppose, but it would be more
difficult to listen to 2 radios at the sa,e time. If the band was pretty
well worked out with very few answers to CQs it might work. It was just
easier to use a 2nd op at that operation.
