I agree with Bill.....

For many years I have heard of the recorded contests, Video Taping Contests
ect and then sitting down for the next four weeks and going through the SAME
contest and editing errors, then submitting the logs.

I for one don't have the time to set through another CQWW, ARRL DX or an SS
contest and look for my mistakes. When the end of the contest comes I submit
the log as I entered it during the contest period. If I mistype a call or an
exchange I ASSUME that the log checkers will find them. I also ASSUME that
ALL logs are being checked the same across the board, but I know that is not
true much of the time. ( I have been on the "accused" end of this several
times, Not Fun!! )

I'm sure the Video and the tapes are good to back up your claims on a Mult
or a Q that the Log checkers dropped, but what does that TRULY buy you after
the scores have been published??

Maybe all I should do is Video Tape the contest and send it in.....Will VHS
be the next "Official" form of log submission media???

      See Ya! Rich N7TR

I read K1AR's editorial in this months CQ magazine with interest. His
topic is just when does the contest end?

This is one point of the contest rules that sponsor seem to ignore.
Personally, I think if there is no rule against an activity, then the
activity must be OK with the sponsors of the contest.

One can only assume that the sponsors for CQWW, SS, and other big contests
are OK with recording the contest and playing it back to remove mistakes.
They are OK with elaborate database checking programs to find unique QSO's
in the post contest log and remove them before entry.

Well, personally I am not OK with it. When I turn off the radio at 00Z,
the long is in the same shape it is in when I submit it, unless I made a
note to myself during the contest to change something in the log.

So John, to answer your question... the contests ends at 00Z for me too. I
hope others agree.
