well, when the 940 was just coming out computers weren't all that common so the
rs-232 interface was probably left as an option to keep cost down on the basic
rig. of course now the incremental cost of an rs-232 port is one chip on the
main board which is probably cheaper than designing a separate option...
personally i would prefer ethernet access complete with audio streaming, remote
access, firewalls, user login, etc, etc, etc.
