I also wear graduated bifocals (and they or my eyes also need to be
recalibrated).

During a contest at a station with the monitor raised, I actually find it
easier to read the screen, radios, keyboard, quick references to TRLog
manual, etc., with my glasses off.

Same at home where my monitor is below the desktop
(http://www.hal-pc.org/~kg5u/kg5u.html): It's glasses off and, again, very
comfortable reading the screen, radios, etc.
