CHANGE IN THE U.S WEST WRTC2002 REPRESENTATION
The WRTC2002 Organizing Committee assembled a team of representatives a
little over a year ago to provide several valuable services for the WRTC2002
games. We were fortunate to obtain financial services by the Northern
California DX Foundation, Inc and Bruce, W6OSP and Rusty, W6OAT.
We had also appointed US Regional representatives: Bob, K4UEE - South, Jeff,
K1ZM -East and Dennis, K7BV -West have performed remarkable fund raising work
in their respective areas. The entire group, further assisted by Bob, K3EST,
has provided the group in Finland with practical support, advise, guidance
and counseling.
This support has kept the spirit alive - emails are crossing the Atlantic
not daily but hourly. The group in Finland has no doubt that the upcoming
WRTC event is now well recognized and valued by the entire Amateur Radio
community. The stage for a wonderful event is being steadily set in a
professional manner. We are comfortable that this will be a memorable event for
all attendees:
regardless of whether they are a competitor or part of the enthusiastic
cheering crowd of well wishers.
Dennis, K7BV is about to take a new job on the snowy East Coast thus he will
turn over his regional responsibility to Steve Merchant, K6AW. Steve is a
seasoned contester at KC1XX, N6RO, HC8N, well suited to the activity, and a
frequent traveler to Finland. In fact, he operated the recent ARRL DX Contest
from the Aland Islands as OH0R.
Promoting and representing WRTC2002 has taken Dennis, K7BV to all continents
except Africa - all at his own expense. The effort has been very determined and
highly valued by all of us. We thank you kindly, Dennis. Instead of losing him,
we would like to use his energy and expertise in a new capacity, announced
today. We are pleased to invite Dennis to be an Honorary WRTC Ambassador at
Large, with the assumption that he will be personally seeing all WRTC delegates
upon their arrival in Finland.
The Organizing Committee of WRTC2002 would like to welcome Steve, K6AW on
board and thank all of our area representatives and supporters in the U.S and
elsewhere. We also wish Dennis, K7BV all the best of luck with his new
challenges.
