WriteLog is a wonderful program for use in the WAE contest. It makes the
handling of QTCs an interesting and fun part of the contest. I'd even venture
a
guess that WL has contributed significantly to WAE participation because of
the clever way it handles QTCs.

Boris, T93Y, has made suggestions for improvements to WL to help the European
ops better handle the process of receiving QTCs. For those of us
non-European ops who send QTCs, I too have a suggestion for a change to WL.
Here it is:

During the contest, we receive frequent requests for QTCs from the European
ops. A practice I follow, and I believe is generally followed by the majority
of the contestants, is to wait until we have accumulated 10 QTCs before we
send them as a unit. Here is the problem: we only know how many unsent QTCs we
have by counting them in the log. And this happens over and over throughout
the contest. It necessitates keeping the log window open to at least 10
entries
long. In my case, I keep it open to 12 entries long, as this helps me to
judge if I have 10 unsent QTCs and, therefore, are ready to send another batch.

I would like to avoid having to constantly make this count "in my head".
Computers are made for counting, so lets have WL do the count for us!

I would like to see a small window display the number of unsent QTCs, and I
believe the best location for this small window is on the lower task bar
adjacent to the CW WPM window. Better yet, would be to color code the unsent
QTC
number, and turn it from red to green once the count reaches 10.

I would like other non-European ops' opinions of this suggestion to have a
small window continually display the number of unsent QTCs using the red/green
color scheme.

If this proves to be a worthwhile suggestion, I would like to see Wayne
implement it.

Thanks, George K5KG / K4KG
