From Zero Land
Did a simple S&P op on phone to try out the Orion. Sunday afternoon pointed
the antenna NE looking for New England. Dead. Called CQ once and got an
immediate reply from a SM6, then no more sigs. Later there was S9SS booming
in. Then nothing. Then a quick QSO with Niger. Then nothing.
A bit later called CQ to the west and there was 3D2 on 2nd try. Nothing
else. Then just as the contest ended, there was ZK1, ZL1, and VK, one of
each and nothing else.
Guess contests do make propagation on a dead band in Zero land.
