It means that you're *competing* directly only against those in the same category, not that your contacts need to be with other stations in your category. You work stations in all categories, but your final score is compared with those in your own category to determine the winner of the category (as in most conetsts).

Hi,
quick question re WPX rules Categories 1a,b,c:
For SINGLE-OP LOW it says: "Stations in this category will only compete with
other low power stations." Does it really mean what it says? Do I have to
listen out for the category first?? There are similar statements for HIGH
and QRP.
Don't understand this .....
