Hi Barry,
Duelling two radios on the same band can improve your score 
from a little to a lot, depending on the contest - biggest advantage 
for me is in sprints/local 80m contests.   A W4AN switch-box 
provides for two transceivers, one amp and one antenna - even a 
simple set up like that can keep you quite busy.
