A few days before the 1996 ARRL DX SSB Contest...

"KG4AA" & "KG4US," both supposedly on from Guantanamo. Lots of activity,
lots of pileups, beam headings appeared right... or pretty close, at
least...

But when both showed up on 75 phone, around 0740 Z (at least that's when I
worked both of them, a few minutes apart), drunk as skunks and just as
nasty, something just didn't seem right.

Found out later that both were Slim's, operating from somewhere way down
South (I later heard FL, but never confirmed that), having a good old time
yanking everyone's chain. As I also recall, the "QSL Routes" were bad (gee,
imagine that), one returned everything noted "not the manager," the other (a
club address, I think) never bothered.

Unfortunate fact of life... Slim happens.

and now, the 2005 annual telling of the Jack Bogut Memorial Joke...
They won't be serving beer at PNC Park this year...
...because the Pirates lost the opener *sigh*
