QTE is bearing - QTF is position based on QTEs.

QTF seems to be frequently misused like that, as I believe that is where
my misunderstanding came from.

QRM or interference - call it what you like - these things aren't going away
if folks sit there & just listen to 'em.  Those who don't think it effects 
them,
then remember it takes two to QSO & it might be very different on the other
end.
