Folgers may make good coffee, but it takes a knowledgeable

TopBander to make a good Beverage. The warm-up
action for The Stew Perry TopBand DX Challenge has concluded with a
pip-squeak VY2 station eking out an apparent win by
a point or two. The past weekend was fun for all, but more fun is in
store Dec 17-18 for the tenth running of this unique TopBand
contest where working distance replaces working countries in the
scoring. Can you say grid square? No, it's not a form of dancing
but part of the exchange between the contesting stations in this forward
thinking contest. The simple, understandable rules, promulgated
by the dedicated Rules Committee Chairman of The Boring Amateur Radio
Club, are easily found at:
 http://www.jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html

The Stew Perry TopBand Extravaganza is also unique in that special Hams
sponsor special plaques to
further the competitiveness and recognize great achievements that happen during
the contest. What does it
take to be one of these bright, far sighted, special Hams who wish to encourage
great things on TopBand?
Simply submitting $50 and a category that is socially acceptable to The
Chairman of the Plaque
Righteousness committee will put you along side of these radio heroes listed
below. Sending me a simple
e-mail to reserve your own plaque creation will start the ball rolling. If you
run across or over or QSO
any of these TopBand Stalwarts, please congratulate them on their excellent
judgment and good looks.

if that helps.
The Boring Amateur Radio Club committee on Publicity is also considering
