The main purpose of contesting (for me) is to HAVE FUN.

When you're running and propagation changes or Mr Big Signal moves in on you, 
do you sit
there and attempt to defend you frequency once it is clear that Mr. Big Signal 
is running and
you no longer are?  Of course not...you move!

Same thing here.  The digital modes are just getting more popular and at sooner 
or later,
the tipping point is (was) reached.

Rather than "stand their ground," SAC SSB "moved."  What could be more logical 
in terms of
maintaining FUN for both contests?
