No, it's not prohibited. But as a little pistol, if I may, a few words of
advice:
Let your team know that if you ask me to QSY for your benefit, and I
respectfully decline, don't make an issue out of it.
I have found it very annoying, when I've been able to secure a "run" frequency
amongst all the KW's and beams, to have a station work me, ask me to leave my
run frequency to work them on another band, and then give me an argument when I
decline.
For one thing, if there are people waiting to work me (rare, but it happens),
it's rude to make them wait while I gallivant off somewhere else. Further, if
I give up that run frequency, I may not get it back.
I'm not in the position of some of the big-gun multi-mults who seem to think
they own a frequency, who can plop on top of me after THEY QSY to chase a mult
elsewhere, and tell me to get lost because it's "their" frequency. I can't
muscle or overpower someone else out of the way.
But arguing with me that I should go? All that operator is doing is breaking
my rhythm, disrupting my operating, wasting my time... and making it look to a
casual observer coming by that I'm not in the contest. The argument doesn't
help either of us, and hurts me more than it hurts you.
And on the same token, if your guys ask me to QSY, they shouldn't assume that I
will and then start calling CQ on my run frequency. Not only is that rude as
well, it's poor amateur practice. It also leaves one with the impression that
I was asked to change bands not to work the other station, but to free a
frequency up for them to take.
I don't know of any contest that prohibits it outright. But it's a technique
that can be misused, and has been.
