The Oceania DX Contest Committee is pleased to advise that the results of the
2010 Oceania DX Contest are now available at
http://www.oceaniadxcontest.com/2010_Results.htm .
A total of 1092 logs were processed which is a new record and a big step up
from the previous record of 999 logs in 2009. This ongoing increase in
participation is most encouraging and can be attributed to a combination of
factors including the introduction of new categories and plaques, improving
conditions on the higher bands and growing awareness of the contest. As well as
the more common VK, ZL, YB and KH6 stations there were a number of rarer
Oceania entities active including V85, 9M6, AH0, DU, and FO8.
The increased participation and improved conditions meant that overall QSO
activity also reached a new high with 21% more QSOs being logged in 2010 than
in 2009. In particular, the 15M band really came to life and ended up carrying
the majority of the traffic in the contest.
Plenty of records were also broken. Of special note is the outstanding effort
by David Mueller NH2T who set a new record for Oceania in the highly
competitive CW Single-Op ALL band category. David’s score of 8.17 million
easily surpasses the previous record score set by VK6AA in 2009.
Several changes were made to the categories for the 2010 contest – the Single
Operator categories were split into low power and high power categories, and
the Multi-Single category was split into one transmitter (M1) and two
transmitter (M2) categories. The Committee is pleased to note that the new
categories appear to be having the desired effect of boosting participation
from low power stations and from smaller multiple operator teams that have
limited resources.
The next Oceania DX contest will be held on the first two full weekends of
October 2011 as follows:
