I think people are being too sensitive about the name -- as a software
developer, I think of the exchange as a parameter to a function. As long
as the station on the other end copies it correctly, who cares? In SS, If
I'm a guest, do I send the check of my host, or me? If I'm operating in
Canada, but was first licensed in the US, do I use the check of my first
HAM license, or the country I am in? These are ALL silly questions. The
contest committee does not need to enforce this, and they don't.
If would actually be better if the various contest committees made these
long-established practices official!

As Good Neighbor pointed out, Cabrillo supports long field sizes -- it is
the logging program implementation that is the issue. All us N1MM users
will loose those contacts because your cabrillo will be chopped. A
consequence not thought of.

Years ago, I did a NAQP SSB using a synthesized voice for SSB; the name was
ROBO. Nobody complained.

Let's worry about more important things.

W5GN's name for the contest was done in good faith -- I don't think he
meant to raise political hackles or cause harm. Good cause, but perhaps
not the best choice for an NAQP exchange.

In the end, I also find it fun seeing all the names of people I have worked
over the last 35+ years in contesting! I got the CARL and MUG
remembrances right sway.
That is cool. For those who love FRIEND FILES, it still makes you have to
copy.

Let's worry about more important things than the name chosen.

73, Gerry W1VE
