Watching the VY1JA Yukon CanAm Contest Station Go Fund Me reach the 80%
funded level has been heart-warming. At the outset, we were thinking that
only serious contesters would be interested in helping Gerry’s (W1VE
/VE1RM) mission to activate J’s station. This has not been the case.
We love and appreciate the small contributions and messages of goodwill
equally as much as the major funders. So many people and companies are
coming together to help Gerry and J get this project off the ground.
It’s a special experience actually operating from VY1JA/VY1AAA as I did
this past weekend for two sessions of the CW Open. I was delighted to give
out the multiplier to a small number of stations as J was guiding me on
some of the finer points of propagation.
I can’t wait until till J has completed the planned station and antenna
