Hello all:

The 2016 Georgia QSO Party is this weekend. Ten hours on Saturday (1800Z to 0359Z) and ten hours on Sunday (1400Z to 2400Z). All HF and VHF operators are invited to participate. It will be on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 and 6 meters. CW and digital count together as mode and Phone is the other mode. Multipliers (counties in GA for out-of-state stations) count per mode. Many plaques and more certificates are offered for in-state and out-of-state stations at each power level (HP, LP, and QRP) and for CW, Phone, or Mixed Modes.

Georgia has 159 counties (second only to TX in the number of counties). Many of them are rather small, thus attracting a lot of mobile operators who like to make many QSOs from many counties.

The Georgia QSO Party home page has complete rules, a list of awards, frequently asked questions, and an activity map showing anticipated operations from each of the 159 counties. Last year, QSOs were made from each of the 159 counties, although no one station has worked them all in just one QSO party yet. This could be the year for that and we do hope to have all of the 159 QRV again this year. For the activity map, look under the tab for 2016 GQP on the left side of the webpage.

The exchange is the common one for many QSO parties: RS(T) and GA county for RS(T) and state/province/ or DX. Any questions can be sent to the GQP manager WA4ZXV or to me if you prefer.

Some GA stations, including W4AN/M operated by KU8E and K4BAI are planning to be QRV part time in some of the GA National Parks on the Air counter areas.

So, you are all invited to the big GA QSO Party this Saturday and Sunday.

The GQP is jointly sponsored by the Southeastern DX Club and the South East Contest Club.

73, John, K4BAI.
President SECC.
