Yes there is! When you are running and one of those loud DX M/S or M/2
stations calls you and you answer and give their report and then there is......
silence. So you call them again, and again give his report and again there
is... silence. Meanwhile, another contester takes that silence as an
opportunity to call cq on top of you, while another loud DX station answers a
cq just below you (or above you) – qrming your run freq., and the next thing
you know (all within less than 15 seconds!), you are fighting with two people
for your run freq. and after you call cq (and hear one of those a-holes cqing
on top of you), you realize that NO ONE is calling you now because after just
45 seconds, all your callers all got impatient and left your run freq. And
quite likely one of them is now also calling cq just 200 hz above you.
So the net result for the privilege of making ZERO qso’s is that you get to
spend the next 15 or more minutes fighting qrm from two or three freq.
interlopers to get your run freq. back!
And, while you are battling for your run freq. (through no fault of your own),
if you were operating SO2R, then you lost that freq. too – no matter how
skilled you are or how seamless your operation.
I assure you that this relatively common reality of SO2R – or even SO1R – is
much more frustrating and considerably worse stress-wise than the situation
that you describe.

would rather work a few more stations on the "busier" band before
responding to your call...and you know that they can hear you....
