Why not just ask the “are you competing for a top 10 finish” question at
log submission time instead of relying on pre-registration?
Why not just look at the claimed score and indicate how it would have
placed against last year’s results in the same category? Maybe to suggest
“hey looks like you probably did really good so we are probably going to
ask you for recordings later, why not get that out of the way now?”
Why not just collect/upload the recordings as part of the log submission
process for all entries just in case? Perhaps start it off as optional, but
eventually have a few serious contests inch toward making it a bit less
than optional for award eligiblility. Would also love to see them publicly
posted with the logs to use as practice files.
Finally, would love to see at least one contest show the pre-judge score/
stats (confirmed/unconfirmed/not in log) / entry category rankings change
in real time as logs are uploaded.
