If you had a good time blasting away in the NAQP CW and NAQP SSB contests,
there is another NCJ contest coming up - the CW Sprint - on Saturday, Sep
8th, starting at 8 PM Eastern (0000 UTC Sep 9th) and running for four
hours. It's a great way to take that extra level of contesting skill you
got during the NAQPs and keep it going!
There are a couple of very useful web pages to help explain the finer
points of how to have the best possible time in the Sprint:
- The CW Sprinting - Beginner's Guide:
https://www.contesting.com/articles/198. Although written by Bill Fisher,
W4AN (SK) in 2001, it's just as pertinent today. (The rules link in the
article is obsolete - the correct link is
http://ncjweb.com/north-american-sprint
and
- The Sprint Survival Web Page: https://www.kkn.net/n6tr/sprint.html by
frequent winner N6TR. This page also includes some sample QSOs so you can
hear what the text is talking about.
Sprint also features team competition, so get your contest club to sponsor
a few. It's a lot more fun and provides a great incentive to keep your
seat in the seat. Even if you can't do the full four hours, pop on the
radio after the late news and enjoy the action on the low bands!
Hope to hear you on the air rocketing along as we enjoy the action!
73, Ward N0AX
