Wonder why you get all the spam. I receive zero spam from ARRL.

I gave up on forwarders many years ago for this precise reason. The League's
forwarder is horrible in that regard and for every wanted email I got easily
500 spams. I have my callsign as a domain now and created several IMAP
mailboxes for different aspects of the hobby (contesting, mailing lists, DX
alerts, etc) and I find that to be far better, since my ISP does an excellent
job at filtering out junk.

I emailed the League, at Ria's suggestion via PM, and got this response:
Dear Barry:
I am sorry to hear your .net email has been targeted and understand how
aggravating this can be. However, the reason you are receiving these emails is
because the sender has not been flagged as a known spammer. I would also like
to point out this is not specific to your ARRL.net email address. Phishing and
spamming emails are known tactics for people and organizations looking to
obtain personal information. I would first point you to the ARRL Privacy Policy
(http://www.arrl.org/privacy-policy) where section 2 states what data is shared
and with who we share it. So, just as the USPS doesn’t open your mail, we do
not look at the contents of an email forwarded through our system.
Second, there are many ways phishing, spamming, or junk email senders could
have gotten their hands on your email address. Here are some of the more common
ways they do; • Compromised Email (You or someone you have emailed had their
inbox compromised in one way or another and your address was there.) • Mailing
Lists (Signing up for some promotions allows those companies to distribute your
email address for a revenue kick back.) • Trojans or Adware (These two are very
common and collect data on your system, sending it back out to the developer.)
Your options going forward would be to either; immediately delete emails you’ve
received from a sender you do not recognize or to cease using the ARRL.net
email forwarding service.
