Rich I think you'll enjoy the heck out of this, a personal history of
logchecking by N6TR, and it includes some details about WRTC 2006
logchecking: https://www.kkn.net/n6tr/ContestBanquet.ppt
Also there is this, Doug K1DG's powerpoint that was at CU in 2018
https://www.contestuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/8.-K1DG-Reading-and-learning-from-your-Log-checking-report-REV20180329.pdf
And Doug's NCJ article is available at the NCJ website here:
http://ncjweb.com/features/julaug19feat.pdf
Back in the 1990's, processing thousands of logs each with up to several
thousand lines qualified as "big data". And it was further complicated by
the mix of paper and electronic log submittals.
In 2021 the computing horsepower is not such a big deal, and just last year
the option of paper log submittals was completely removed from several
contests and nobody seemed to notice.
