Jim,

“Dumbest contest” is a little harsh.

Nevertheless, I would point out that at least half of the contest’s 
participants are non-USA operators and indeed have to correctly copy the 
exchange/zone for the US guys they work. And, you’d be surprised how many US 
guys get zones wrong in their logs.
