On Sherwood's table the Icom 706MKIIG has better dynamic range than the Yaesu 
FT1000MP, FT1000D, and FT1000MP MKv, and better than the Icom 781.  I think you 
will find few contesters who agree that the MKIIG is a better contesting 
receiver than those other radios.  There must be more to the story than just 
close in dynamic range, or something.
