"-" doesn't give you half-dot spacing.  It gives you slowdown (should be
used with equal number of "+" signs), so you can program your report to be
something like:

++5NN--04

whiich would send the 5NN part 2 * 3 WPM = 6 WPM faster, then restore the
speed to normal for sending the zone.
