This is easier than Heathkit.

You need to build an interface for either your Parallel port of your Serial 
port.  The diagrams are in the manual.  All you need is a DB25 connector, 2 
resistors and a 2n222 transistor, as well as some wire and a 1/4" phone plug 
for the radio.
