Don't even think about running MASTER.DTA...

If you get a disk cache set up in RAM, it will be a big help speed-wise, otherwise be sure to hit the "QRZ" key before logging the QSO or else you have to wait for the QSO to write to the floppy before the QRZ message will be sent.

I am headed to the shack to start working on this and may find the answers
out for myself but wanted to poll the collective wisdom
