Hello Stephanie and the list.I don't believe it is impractical to wrap a
wire aroud the neon tube but it would certaily have to be done
carefully.15Kv is no respecter of the insulating properties of air if the
wire wrap was to get to close to either ends terminal. as an aside, when the
Sydney opera House was designed in the sixties, there was a concern that all
fluorescent lamps emitted RF energy and it wwas thought that this was
intolerable for many reasons. Therefore a decision was made to sheath every
tube in a special metal mesh "stocking"which was earthed(grounded) at each
end of the tube by special fingers as sometimes used in the old "rapid
start-preheat " days. This practice continued until at least the late
eighties and may still be in use.It certainly did its job!!!
                                                 Regards to all,Brian
goldsmith.

As far as the wrapping each tube end to end with wire........Wouldnt
wrapping the the tube end to end obscure the actual light itself. In any
event, this method is totally impractical.
