For some research I am doing into RFI elimination, I need to measure the
complex impedance of chokes made using various ferrite cores. I'm
specifically looking at reducing common mode current on audio wiring, but, of
course, the work will have relevance to other systems as well, including RFI
into all sorts of systems from ham gear. My principal range of interest is
from the AM broadcast band through the FM broadcast band.
For this work, I would be quite satisfied with 5-10% accuracy. I'm currently
using what I have available -- a CIA-HF loaned by K9IKZ -- and I've generated
some useful data, albeit limited by the CIA-HF. I know there are better
alternatives, but my research is unfunded, so I must make use of what I can
borrow or buy at moderate cost. Limitations of the CIA-HF are poor accuracy
of phase angle, 1K Ohms maximum impedance magnitude, and 54 MHz maximum
frequency. Any suggestiions?
